Irish Soda Bread (Stannard Family Recipe)

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tbs caraway seeds

Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a 9" round cake pan and set aside.

In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and raisins. In a small bowl, whisk together egg, milk, melted butter, and caraway seeds. Stir wet mixture into the dry, blending gradually. Bake for 1 hour.
