Marinara Sauce with Meat

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb sweet Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 28 oz can whole tomatoes, chopped
  • 14 oz can tomato purée
  • 1 tbsp basil
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp rosemary
  • 1 tsp beef-flavored Better than Bouillon
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 lb spaghetti, linguine, or your favorite long noodle

Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, then add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add the ground beef and sausage, browning throughly. Add chopped whole tomatoes and tomato purée, stirring to combine. Add basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, bouillon, and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 45 minutes.

Bring water to boil in a large stock pot. Salt and cook pasta according to package instructions before draining. Combine with sauce and serve.
