  • 1 lb bow-tie pasta
  • 2 medium–large tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 sprigs basil, chiffonaded
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/3 cup olive oil

Bring water to boil in a large stock pot. Salt and cook pasta according to package instructions before draining, reserving 1 cup of cooking water and returning pasta to pot. Using a garlic press, prepare garlic. Add garlic, tomatoes, and basil. Coat with olive oil and cooking liquid, then season with salt and pepper. Cover the pasta and let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
